An Intimate English Affair – Genevieve & Graham

An intimate wedding ceremony, a Suzanne Neville dress and a ceilidh band to get the party started! Genevieve and Graham held their beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony and reception with us in August.

Genevieve spent the morning getting ready with her mother and eight bridesmaids. The girls arrived into the courtyard just before the wedding car drew inside, it was the perfect entrance!

Their day began in our Bishop Sherlock’s Room, home to a collection of historic paintings and a feature chandelier. Gen & Graham looked picture perfect at the top of the aisle and their beaming smiles following the ceremony say it all.

Time to head outside for the all-important confetti throwing and fizz to follow! Gen and Graham had chosen kept their choices close to home with two sparkling wines from Chapel Down Vineyard in Kent.

Their fantastic photographer Jo of Captive Photography has certainly mastered the art of the confetti photo, Gen & Graham’s is one of the best we have seen…

Then it was time for guests to find their seats for dinner, we loved Gen & Grahams table plan – it showed off their love of London and their cat who by the looks of it is very mischievous!

With a slightly more intimate affair Gen & Graham decided to dine in our Great Hall with 80 of their nearest and dearest. With the help of Jay Archer a regular florist at Fulham Palace they transformed the beautiful wood panelled room into a warm and elegant dining space for a cosy wedding breakfast.

Jay used Gen’s favourite colours of green and purple for the floral centre pieces. They also used the bridesmaid’s flowers once the main photographs had been taken.

A delicious three course dinner was served where the menu was created and designed to suit Gen & Grahams personal tasted and favourites. With Gen being a vegetarian she wanted to make sure she didn’t end with something typical boring she has been given at previous weddings. We took one of her favourite dishes from The Gate restaurant in Hammersmith and created a fantastic main course for Gen and her vegetarian guests. Full menu below ….

A salad of grilled halloumi, roasted vegetables, baby chard with pomegranate and lemon yoghurt 

Crispy skinned sea bream with ginger and spring onion, lemon and olive oil mash, Savoy cabbage, creamed parsley salsa verde

Vegetarian: Butternut squash Rotolo (roasted butternut, goat’s cheese and basil in a baked thyme infused potato and rolled)

Warm sticky toffee pudding, with poached pear and ginger ice cream

After dinner a quick top up of English fizz ready for the speeches – we love this photo of Gen & Graham enjoying the speeches!

Then it was into the Bishops Terrick’s Drawing Room for the cutting of the cake and cocktails, while we turn around the Great Hall from dinner to dancing. Gen & Graham made the cake themselves which is super impressive and with the addition of some flowers from Jay to finish it off. It certainly went down a storm with their guests.
