East meets West meets Purple – Amy and Matt

Where to start! This wedding was so much fun in the planning and on the day, it was such a privilege to be part of it.

Amy and Matt are such a fun couple, as the photos below convey. They seamlessly incorporated the best of Western and Chinese tradition into their day. The result, as you can see below, was bright, happy and full of smiles.

Magical moments captured by the fantastic Victoria Tyrell; you can see even more of them here on her blog:

As well as Eastern influence and tradition, this wedding involved a stunning Welsh bride which meant that it was featured on the fantastic Welsh wedding blog Cwtch the Bride http://cwtchthebride.com/real-wedding-amy-matt/

In her interview on the blog, Amy explained why they chose Fulham Palace

“We had two venues to find after deciding to get married in London! We had the challenge of finding a venue for a civil ceremony and a Chinese restaurant that weren’t too far from each other. The boat idea kind of just fell into place after securing the venue. Fulham Palace was the first venue we saw and I fell in love with it as soon as we walked into its courtyard. It is a hidden gem in the heart of south west London and surrounded by its own gardens which is a great backdrop for photos.”

Amy and Matt had their ceremony in the Great Hall and a drinks reception in the Tudor Courtyard before taking all of their guests on a riverboat cruise up the Thames to a restaurant for a full Chinese banquet.

During their Great Hall wedding ceremony, the couple made the most of the grand piano and hired our favourite pianist Angus Murray to set the tone and play during and after the ceremony.

Perhaps the most striking thing about this wedding was the colour styling, royal blues and a deep, rich purple. These floral displays were placed up and around the aisle, matching the bridesmaids perfectly. The wedding flowers were designed by London based Flowerjugs

The couple, their guests and photographer Victoria Tyrell were able to make the most of one of the most glorious days of the British summer and used as many green spaces as possible. There were traditional group shots on the lawn, reportage style shots of the couple enjoying wandering through the gardens and some fun, silly shots of everyone letting loose and having fun.

The couple took their guests on a riverboat cruise from outside Fulham Palace to a restaurant for their banquet and dancing.
