Spring Flower Inspiration – by Mary Jane Vaughan

Every season offers a realm of opportunity to offer when it comes to design and choice of flowers for your wedding. One of our favourite Fulham Palace florists is Mary Jane Vaughan.

Mary’s office in Battersea is as an Aladdin’s cave of the most beautiful native and international flora. She uses this treasure trove to create inspirational designs ranging from intimate arrangements to statement pieces.

We asked Mary what she thought are the best ways to use flowers in the Springtime. Here is her advice

A Spring bride is spoiled for choice!

There is some flexibility in the seasons in terms of floristry. So much so, that beautiful Spring flowers actually begin to appear in our workshop from late Winter.

  • Delicate bouquet of paperwhites and ranunculus or, lily of the valley.
  • Huge urns full of cherry blossom at the end of the aisle
  • Scented hyacinths in white, pink and lavender shades
  • Tulips in a multitude of colours
  • Ranunculus with their delicate layered petals

Decorate tables with the best that this zesty season has to offer…

  • Pots containing sweet smelling hand tied posies
  • Vases of narcissi with their bare roots showing (see photo below)
