Pretty in Pink – Helen & Kristina

Helen and Kristina joined us at the Palace for an intimate springtime wedding. The pastel colour scheme suited the girls perfectly, and their cream and pink dresses tied in beautifully with the gorgeous cherry blossom trees during the ceremony in the Great Hall. It really was pretty in pink!

Following the ceremony, Helen and Kristina’s guests enjoyed a champagne reception in the Medieval Courtyard, with Angus Murray on the keys to set the scene. We always recommend music during the drinks reception to create an atmosphere and get guests talking, and a pianist is certainly a classy and entertaining choice!

The Great Hall was turned around for dinner during the drinks reception, and Mary Jane Vaughan created these gorgeous cherry blossom table centrepieces to decorate the room, along with blue and pink uplighting from Effectevent. We are lucky to have a large semi-permanent marquee in the chaplain’s walled garden  for most of the year, but for a more intimate celebration such as Helen and Kristina’s, the Great Hall is the perfect setting.

For the dinner itself, Helen and Kristina opted for a delicious pescetarian menu. We’re strong believers in creating wedding menus that our couples love, so we couldn’t resist sharing this one with you!

Wild mushroom ravioli with a truffle veloute and micro shoots
Homemade Bread and Butter

Sea bass, lemon risotto, char-grilled Mediterranean vegetables, basil crisps and herb oil
‘Trio of desserts’
Chocolate profiterole, salted caramel cheesecake and a crème brulee (and raspberries)

Later on in the evening, Kristina incorporated her German heritage by including the tradition of sawing a log with your new partner – which symbolises the first obstacle a couple must overcome during their married life! As you can see, this touching moment made for some brilliant photos, expertly captured by Lloyd Dobbie.

Guests were then free to dance the night away, and dance they did!

We absolutely loved hosting Helen and Kristina’s spring wedding, and many thanks to Lloyd Dobbie for sharing his photos with us.
